Water intrusion is a bad thing no matter where it happens in a home. This home happened to have this problem in their finished basement. If left unchecked, water intrusion can do some major damage including rot and mold. This can be especially bad when these things actually happen in the home, like this customer's case. Fortunately for them, they had not let it get to the point of rot or mold. They were more preemptive in this case and called us before too much damage was done.
The "before" photo shows the area just before we installed our products. We have to cut out and remove the drywall partially up the wall in order to install our CleanSpace Wall, which helps to direct and drain water to our Waterguard drain that we also installed.
The "after" picture shows what the (almost) finished product looks like. You can see the area behind the insulation that has been covered with the CleanSpace liner that was just mentioned. The dark area of concrete is where the Waterguard was installed. It drains down to the sump pump where any collected water is then pumped out of the basement.
Our crew installed a WaterGuard and a BrightWall paneling system on the walls.
Owners of this Chapin, South Carolina home contacted us because of the high moisture issue they would experience in just one room of the house. This would be particularly problematic for the owners because that room was one with carpeting.
The solution here would we to install WaterGuard. The reason for that would be to collect the water that would often come through the walls. The drainage system actually catches the water and delivers it into the sump pumps. This whole process, of course, happens off camera. However, if you look closely at the “after” photo, you can see where we’ve installed the WaterGuard and poured cement over it.
It’s really the best solution for a high traffic area.
One of the worst aspects of a leaky basement is what happens to the things you have stored there. Whether the items are memorabilia or old furniture, it’s safe to say that no one particularly enjoys having their possessions ruined. But that can happen with a leaking basement. Blythewood, South Carolina residents knew that all too well.
Too often, they would walk into their basement and see thin rivers of water crisscrossing their way around all items in the space. Many of them were actually ruined. Some were saved. Others were collected and left to dry out in the sun. It wasn’t a fun process.
Now pictured we have ourselves a solution: WaterGuard and a SuperSump. Both of these products were essential to stop the out pouring of water. WaterGuard is our patented, flexible drainage system. It collects the water as it falls from the walls. It is then directed into the SuperSump pump. The pump then takes the water and pumps it out of the basement and away from the homes foundation.
With these products in place, all storage items can confidently be welcomed back into the fray.
The owners of this home did not come to us unprepared. The funny thing about these homeowners is that they came to us with the idea that they needed both a dehumidifier and a sump pump. Incidentally, they were right. What they also needed was CleanSpace.
The “after” photo pictures this well. During the product install, we were able to plug in CleanSpace in every inch of this crawlspace. We even covered the support piers in this thick material. The SuperSump pump was installed next. This item actually receives the water and it is pumped out of the crawlspace.
I know the homeowners are quite satisfied with what we’ve done here, and our team was satisfied with their handy work as well.
