Crawl Space Repair Before & After Photos

The strange thing about crawlspaces is that they are never contained in one place, but that is easy to forget. Disuse usually fades the problematic space from our minds, but it still exists and it still causes issues for the rest of the house.

Many crawlspaces look just like the one you see here in the “before.” The ground is exposed and there are vents that expose the crawlspace to the outside. Both of these factors contribute to a very bad crawlspace.

The “after” photo shows how this area is completely changed by our installation of CleanSpace. Not only does it cover the floors, but it is also installed over the walls as well.  The owners of this Williamston, South Carolina home came to us because of the high humidity in their crawlspace. We know for certain that the CleanSpace was able to cut down on more than half of the crawlspace’s problems.

This homeowner in Pelzer, South Carolina told our Design Specialist that they weren't experiencing any problems in particular, but felt that this was a good investment. And sometimes, that can be very true. Even if they weren't experiencing major issues, from the look of the crawlspace, this needed to be done anyway. Many crawlspaces have dirt floors, but many of those crawlspaces suffer from high humidity levels and moisture issues. This is because of the water vapor escaping into the crawlspace from the dirt. Not many people often thing about it, but water vapor, when let alone, can cause all sorts of problems. The moisture can rust cables, rest in wood, and welcome in an entire fleet of temites.

And so, to protect this space from future problems, we installed a CleanSpace liner. This is a 20 mils thick plastic material reinforced with polyester cords.  This material is perfect for keeping that moisture at bay and, thus, sealing the entire space. Have you ever been sitting in your home late at night and heard a strange noise? Typically humans react with fear to things that lurk in the dark. Under your home might be scary, but you remind yourself that nothing is there. In this Toccoa home, the crawlspace actually was something to be scared of. This crawlspace was the equivalent of children fearing the monsters under the bed. But there is no need to fear because our All-Dry of the Carolinas team is the nightlight of crawlspaces. 

When our team arrived at the home the crawlspace was in ruin. The floor was covered with an old muddy liner that collected had water. Insulation hung from the ceiling, the foundation had begun to deteriorate, and even the crawlspace door was falling apart. There was even evidence of wildlife that littered the entire crawlspace.

But the All-Dry of the Carolinas team knew exactly what to do. After cleaning out all rocks, trash, insulation and animal nests, our team installed a drainage system and SuperSump Pump. This system was then covered with a drainage mat and CleanSpace Liner. Smart Jacks were installed in the ground to give the house a steadier foundation. Then after the crawlspace was picture perfect an EverLast door was installed. This project started off as a nightmare but with the help of All-Dry of the Carolinas it was able to be saved.
