This is yet another home in Greenville, SC that had a basement with water seeping into it. This is another prime example of hydrostatic pressure forcing water through the walls of basements. The renter or this property called us at All-Dry of the Carolinas where we sent out our design specialist, Alex Rogers to check out the problem. Once Alex got to the home he saw that water had been leaking down the walls of the basement. This basement needed a combination of WaterGuard, CleanSpace wall and a SuperSump pump to take care of their problem.
The perimeter was jackhammered down to the footing of the basement. WaterGuard, which is an interior waterproofing drainage system, is then installed in the trench that had been created by the jack hammer. WaterGuard is placed into the trench, with its 3/8’ wall flange against the wall, and angled in a downward slope so that water can flow towards the SuperSump pump that was placed in the basement. Once in the correct position, the WaterGuard is covered with gravel to keep make the drainage system stable. CleanSpace Wall is then tacked on the wall and tucked in behind the WaterGuard wall flange so that any wall water seepage will be pushed straight into the drainage system and into the sump pump. Once the CleanSpace wall is in place behind the WaterGuard, the WaterGuard is then covered with cement which evens out the floor and makes the system invisible.
The WaterGuard is connected to the SuperSump pump so any water can be drained into it. The sump pump will flush the water out once it reaches a certain spot. When the sump pump flushes the water, it goes through a piping system and through the LawnScape outlet where the water flows into the yard away from the home.
Many homeowners don't realize that they have moisture issues until someone else makes them aware of a possible issue. One of the biggest reasons for this is because a lot of homeowners hardly ever go under their home, and even when they do, they probably don't know some of the signs of water intrusion and high moisture levels. However there are many contractors that frequently work in crawlspaces who know some common signs of moisture issues.
This happened to be the case for this homeowner. When they had a pest control company at their home, the technician noticed that the moisture level was much too high in the crawlspace. While it was great that the technician noticed the high moisture level, a good amount of "damage" had already begun, such as mold already growing on the floor joists in the crawlspace and soaked floors. However, even with the problem as bad as it was, our System Design Specialist knew that we had a solution for this homeowner.
The high moisture level in the crawlspace of this home was taken care of with the installation of CleanSpace and several other products that help to keep the water out of the crawlspace. Our crew installed 3-inch drain tile around the perimeter of the crawlspace which helps to drain the water down the the SuperSump Pump System that was also installed in the crawlspace. There was also a dehumidifier that was put in the crawlspace in order to remove any moisture that wasn't caught by the CleanSpace.
This home in Greenville, South Carolina was trying to finish their basement, but before they did that they wanted to take care of a few moisture issues within the space.
In the before picture, we have the space enclosed by brick. And, although brick is common, it’s not particularly water resistant. To combat this issue, we installed CleanSpace pictured here in the after picture. Our CleanSpace is a 20 mils thick plastic liner, reinforced with polyester cords for added strength and durability. The CleanSpace is sealed using a variety of methods, but all of them are designed to keep the material sealed.
While the work that we do may sometimes seem pretty routine, there are a lot of little things that must be looked at and taken into consideration before a proper estimate can be made. Fortunately for us, our System Design Specialists are extremely well trained and have enough experience to look for the intricacies of each and every crawlspace they enter. This is important when installing CleanSpace, because we want to make sure that the whole crawlspace is sealed up properly.
The first photo shows off a particularly interesting area in the crawlspace where a brick wall had started falling apart, as well as a small gap between the brick and garage structure. While it was still part of the crawlspace, because of its odd shape, it was better off to seal off this area. This is one of those things that could very easily be overlooked, but because of our Specialist's experience, was taken care of during the initial inspection.
The photo that was taken after the CleanSpace was installed shows the solution that our Specialist came up with. First off, our crew did a great job at working the CleanSpace around the broken brick wall, which can sometimes be difficult. The solution that our System Design Specialist came up with was to use one of our products, SilverGlo insulation to block off the area behind the broken brick wall. SilverGlo is not only sturdy, but it also will help insulate the crawlspace.
Water getting into the basement of a home can be a pretty scary thing because, well, there shouldn't be water in the basement at all. However, water intrusion in a basement is unfortunately very common and something that we see almost daily. There are a few different ways and reasons why water gets into a basement, but we believe that there is only one permanent solution. Our solution addresses the water intrusion from the interior of the home.
This basement in Greenville had some very serious damage caused by water intrusion. While there were many areas that were affected by the water intrusion, the area pictured in the first photo shows off some of the more intense damage in the basement. Most of the damage is towards the bottom of the wall where the majority of the water was coming through. When our System Design Specialist visited the home and saw this, he knew exactly what was going to be needed to take care of this issue for good.
The second photo shows the same area but after our crew had come out to the home to install the system. The most noticeable part of the installation is the CleanSpace liner that can be seen covering just about the entire wall. The CleanSpace catches any water that may get in through the basement wall and directs it down to the WaterGuard drain. The WaterGuard is actually on the floor of the basement and has been covered with concrete in this photo. The WaterGuard goes along the perimeter of the basement and collects the water coming into the basement and then drains the water down to the sump pump where it can be pumped out and away from the home.
