Foundation issues are a problem that should never be put on hold. As much as we want it to be able to stop, the problem will grow and become worse as time passes. This Lake Lure, NC homeowner had thought to hold off on getting his foundation issues fixed. However, after watching the floors continue to sag, he decided that he could put it off no longer..
When our team came to rectify the problem they brought along SmartJacks. The SmartJacks were placed under the floor joist of the home and then used to push the floors back into place. To install it, we excavate a two-foot cube at each SmartJack location. The hole is then filled with concrete or engineered to create a stable, loadbearing footing. The SmartJack sits on top of it with a custom-engineered base.
Crawlspaces can be a great place for storage, because it is usually just as large as the rest of the house, just a little shorter. However, this space usually cannot be used because of the condition of the crawlspace. While not all crawlspaces have issues with water or moisture, at the very least most have a dirt crawlspace.
This homeowner used their crawlspace to store quite a few things. The "before" picture shows off just a few of the things that they had stored under the home. While many of these items wouldn't be affected by a small amount of moisture, the longer the exposure, the more damage can happen. One of the reasons why this homeowner called is because of the water getting into the crawlspace through areas like the corner (behind one of the bikes).
The next picture shows the crawlspace after our CleanSpace liner was installed. The main material that can be seen is the white CleanSpace liner, but we also installed some clear CleanSpace wall so that any other contractors that may work in the crawlspace are able to see what is behind our liner. There is also a SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier to monitor and control the humidity.
Our WaterGuard piping system is the best in the business. There are no “ifs”, “ands”, or “buts” about it. Unlike other systems that require you to either dig up your lawn or allow large bulking pipes to roll around your property, our WaterGuard system remains unseen. But, don’t take my word for it; let’s take a look at the examples below.
See the “before” photo? When these Horse Shoe, North Carolina homeowners called into All-Dry of the Carolinas, their basement walls were leaking. Once the water dried, it would leave behind the whitish substance you see here—the efflorescence. Both the floor and the wall suffer from this issue. Not only is it annoying, but it isn’t particularly beautiful in the least. It needed a prompt solution. The best way to deal with this is to install WaterGuard.
In the “after” photo, we’ve done just that. See that dark strip across the floor? That is where we’ve made the incision for the WaterGuard piping system. It’s a drain system that does not sit in the dirt. In fact, we install it right inside of the basement, against the wall. At that position, it catches all of the water that drains from the walls; however, it does not allow in any debris or dirt. It’s perfect. And, after the water dries, it will be practically invisible.
This basement had a problem with several parts of its walls being very damp. This could definitely cause problems as the water vapor coming through the walls will increase the relative humidity, which can lead to mold growth in the basement. In order to fix this problem for the homeowner, our crew installed almost 800 square feet of BrightWall paneling in this basement.
The "before" picture shows how the basement looked when our Service Design Specialist first went out to this home. The most noticeable thing about this photo is the damp areas on the right-hand wall. This was one of the main issues that the homeowner was having to deal with, which meant it was the main issue we needed to take care of for them!
The "after" photo shows a radically different area than before. In this photo, the BrightWall had already been installed and can be seen going around the entire basement wall. BrightWall panels are large, inorganic panels that help to keep water vapor from getting into the basement. Not only are these panels functional, but they also make the basement look much better and cleaner than before; it covers up the block walls and presents a much cleaner image (great for selling your home!).
Unfortunately for some homeowners, they get hit with more than one issue at a time. This can be stressful, but the great thing is that our products all work and fit together, which allows us to simultaneously fix a foundation issue and basement waterproofing problem. This happened to be the case for this homeowner in Hendersonville, North Carolina.
The homeowner's main issue that they were worried about was water intrusion in their basement. While our Systems Design Specialist was inspecting the area, he also noticed that the walls of the basement were bowing. His proposal included WaterGuard and a SuperSump, to address the water intrusion, and PowerBraces to help with the bowing basement walls. The first photo actually gives a good look at how our products are installed, as you can see the trench for the WaterGuard and the hole for the SuperSump has been dug. You can also see the CleanSpace on the wall, and the PowerBrace that has already been installed!
The difference between the basement before and after the work was done is quite significant. First of all, the basement was given a newer and more clean look. Even more importantly, the problems that this homeowner was dealing with before were no longer an issue. The PowerBraces were able to give more support for the wall, with the added ability of being able to be tightened over time. The CleanSpace Wall, SuperSump pump, and WaterGuard all work together perfectly in order to keep water from staying in the basement.
