Cracks on Outside Walls
This is the wall that was experiencing the settlement where the cracks had already formed. One of the cracks can be seen towards the bottom right side of the wall. Fortunately this was the only area that was affected, and while the settlement was pretty significant it only needed to be corrected on this wall.
Crack Before Push Piers Were Installed
This photo shows the crack that could be seen in the first photo, but closer up. This crack is pretty significant and if left completely unchecked, severe damage could have been done to the home. The metal pole that can be seen is actually part of the push piers and is what is driven into the ground to provide support for the home.
Installation of Push Pier
Here is one of the four push piers that were installed in order to raise and support this part of the home. The push pier is fastened to the bottom of the foundation, and the then steel pipes that you can see to the right are driven deep into the ground in order to find stable footing, so that the home can be supported.
Push Pier Location
Here is one of the areas that the push piers have to be installed in. As you can see, the crew must dig out a significantly sized hole all the way to the bottom of the foundation. Fortunately this foundation was just a couple feet deep, but sometimes they have to dig 3-5 feet to reach the foundation!
Push Piers Being Installed
Here is a photo of the the installed push piers. In this photo, the crew has already began to raise the foundation and is in the process of making sure that everything is the way that it should be. The last thing to take care of is to disconnect the hoses and cover the push piers back up!
Installed Push Pier After Lifting
This is what the push pier looks like after everything is said and done. It is able to provide enough support to raise this home and keep it in that position (along with the other three push piers). This hole will be refilled with dirt, and the homeowner won't ever have to worry about it again.
Another Photo of Push Pier Installation
This is just another photo that shows the crew working on raising the the foundation back towards its original location. You can see all four of the holes for the push piers. These piers are placed an equal distance apart so that the weight is pretty evenly distributed through all four of them.
Push Pier Being Raised
While you can't actually see what is happening in this photo, this push pier is actually raising the foundation and providing it with a stable place to sit. These products are incredible and are extremely effective in what they do.
Final Product
Here is what the final product looked like! If you go back and take a look at the first couple of pictures you'll see the difference between the crack in them, and the lack of a crack in this photo. These push piers can make a huge difference, and can help to protect the homeowner from any further damage to their home. The crew also seals the cracks up, to help make it seem like there was never a crack at all!
