Crawlspace During Initial Inspection
This picture shows off the crawlspace when our System Design Specialist first visited the home. While this particular area doesn't seem too bad, there is quite a bit of water pooled up along the wall and some of it has soaked into the bottom couple of blocks.
Crawlspace Before CleanSpace Encapsulation
Here is another photo of the crawlspace while our Design Specialist was taking a look at the home. Again this area doesn't seem in too bad of shape, but there are a few signs of high moisture levels. There is water pooled up along the wall, but there are also a few places where the insulation is falling, which can be a sign of high humidity in the crawlspace.
Damp Floor Joist in Crawlspace
This photo starts to get into the more obvious and more serious problems in this crawlspace. This floor joist had been soaking up water for quite some time, as this board was soaked. One of the issues this homeowner was having were that their floors had started to buck up, which was caused by the high humidity levels.
Soaked Insulation and Rusted Metal
This photo shows off just how much water the insulation had absorbed. The water was actually dripping off of the insulation. There was enough moisture in this crawlspace to rust out the metal on the appliance attached to the floor joist. It was unfortunate that the homeowner went quite some time without noticing, but it is always better to be late than never!
Condensation on Wood Floor Joists
While this may just look like a few drops of water on a floor joist, it is much more than just that. Water can condense on just about any material, but some are harder for water to condense on than others. Wood is a relatively porous material that can absorb quite a bit of water, meaning that this floor joist has absorbed so much water that it cannot hold anymore and the water began to condense. This was a very serious problem for this homeowner.
Damp and Falling Insulation
This picture shows some more of the insulation that was soaked with water. One of the most obvious signs of high humidity is insulation falling. This happens because the insulation becomes too heavy with all of the water and begins to droop and eventually fall.
Installed CleanSpace Liner in Crawlspace
Here is a photo showing off the CleanSpace liner that our crew installed in the crawlspace. When CleanSpace is installed, the liner covers the entire floor and even goes at least a few inches up the walls. In this case, the CleanSpace was taken up almost to the top of the wall.
Another Photo of the Installed CleanSpace
CleanSpace completely changes the look and function of a crawlspace for the better. This area does not look even remotely similar to the first few photos, but they are the same! Our crews did an excellent job at completely transforming this crawlspace.
More CleanSpace Liner
CleanSpace does an incredible job at preventing water and moisture from getting in the crawlspace. However there are other products that often need to be installed in order to keep pumping water away and to keep the humidity level down in the crawlspace.
One Last Photo of the CleanSpace
Not only does the CleanSpace do a great job with preventing water from getting into the crawlspace, but it also makes the area look much better. Our crew removed all of the wet insulation, which immediately made a difference.
Entrance to the Crawlspace
Here is the entrance to the crawlspace. When installing the CleanSpace, the crew took it all the way to the entrance. Having the entire crawlspace sealed up with CleanSpace is extremely important because it prevents moisture from getting into the crawlspace.
Installed SuperSump Pump System
This was a very important part of the system that was installed in this crawlspace. The SuperSump is where all of the water drains to under the CleanSpace. The water is then pumped out and away from the home. One great feature of our sump systems is that they come with a WaterWatch Alarm which will alert the homeowner if the water levels get too high and the pump is not working.
