Water Intrusion Through Crawlspace Wall
This is a very clear sign that water has been getting into the crawlspace. There are obvious spots around the bottom of the wall where the water has soaked through and the blocks are actually saturated in this photo. This type of water intrusion is often caused by hydrostatic pressure.
Open Vents in Crawlspace
There are many different ways for moisture and water to get into a crawlspace. Most often it seems to come from the walls and ground in the crawlspace, but another big area for moisture to get in through are the vents. This is even more prominent in the South because the high humidity levels.
Soaked and Fallen Insulation
A huge sign of water intrusion and moisture issues in crawlspaces is falling or fallen insulation. This picture shows this off pretty well, with the wet insulation already having fallen. Insulation soaks up the moisture like a sponge and as it soaks up water, the insulation becomes heavy and begins to fall.
Entrance to Crawlspace
Here is the entrance to the crawlspace. While this seems like a normal crawlspace, there are a few causes and symptoms that can be seen. As previously mentioned, the vents on this home were open, which allows moisture to get into the crawlspace. It is also very obvious that there has been a lot of water in this crawlspace, as noted by the old liner being completely covered in mud, as well as a "mud line" a few inches up the wall.
Entrance After CleanSpace Liner
This is the same area that was shown in the last photo, but with the CleanSpace installed. It makes a pretty significant difference in the look and function of the crawlspace. This homeowner had the CleanSpace installed all of the way up the wall, which is another way to keep more moisture from getting into the crawlspace.
Installed SmartJacks and CleanSpace Liner
Here is a better view of the installed CleanSpace Liner, as well as the SmartJacks that were installed in the crawlspace. This homeowner was dealing with sagging and bouncing floors, which the SmartJacks took care of once installed. The SmartJacks provide support to areas under the home that for one reason or another have became weak.
Installed CleanSpace Liner
This photo gives a great view of the CleanSpace that was installed in the crawlspace of this home. The crews do an excellent job at ensuring that the CleanSpace is installed tight to the floor and walls of the crawlspace. This not only makes the crawlspace look better, but also helps to prevents accidental punctures and the wall being pulled away from the wall.
Installed SaniDry Sedona and Sump Pump
The sump pump and dehumidifier are a vital part in this system. While the CleanSpace does a great job of keeping the water out of the crawlspace, this water does go somewhere, which is why the sump pump is installed to pump the water away from the home. The dehumidifier was installed to ensure that the humidity level of the crawlspace low enough to prevent mold from growing.
