Mold Growth on Floor Joist
One of the dangers of having a damp crawlspace is the chance for mold to grow. Unfortunately this is exactly what happened to this homeowner. This mold was just in the early stages of its growth, but because the air in your crawlspace will eventually work its way into the home, having any mold in the crawlspace can cause health issues.
Old Sump Location
This is what the old sump pump looked like when our System Design Specialist first went out to the home. In the state that it was in, it was completely non-functional, as it was filled up with mud and gravel. The sump systems that we install have a covered liner which prevent things like this happening.
Crawlspace Before Installation
This is what the crawlspace looked like before our crew had installed our products and successfully encapsulated the area. They were on the right track with the gravel and drain around the perimeter of the crawlspace, but it needed more to be effective. This is where the CleanSpace really helps out, to ensure the moisture doesn't get into the crawlspace.
Water Intrusion and Efflorescence
This photo shows some signs of water intrusion into the crawlspace and another reason our System Design Specialist knew that this crawlspace was going to need an encapsulation system. One sign is the area where water has dried up on the plastic liner. Another sign is towards the bottom of the cinderblock wall where there is some white chalky powder, known as efflorescence, where water has come through, dried, and left behind the mineral in the water.
Installed CleanSpace Liner
This is what the crawlspace looked like once the CleanSpace liner was installed. Having the CleanSpace installed makes a huge difference in the look of the crawlspace, but more importantly it protects the crawlspace from moisture and water intrusion issues.
Another Photo of the Installed CleanSpace Liner
This is a great example of how the CleanSpace is installed each and every time our crews put it it. The crew lays out the CleanSpace so that it is flush against the floors and walls. This helps to ensure that the CleanSpace can be secured to the walls and that it will be much more difficult to pull off the wall.
CleanSpace Covering Entire Wall
CleanSpace is not always installed all the way up the wall, but it certainly helps if it is. When CleanSpace spans the entirety of the wall, it is able to catch even more water or water vapor and prevent it from getting into the crawlspace. The right-hand wall does not have any CleanSpace, because it is an interior wall.
Entrance to Crawlspace
Here is what the entrance to the crawlspace looked like after the CleanSpace was installed. The CleanSpace has completely transformed the look of this crawlspace and making it somewhat "climate-controlled". Now this homeowner can store some things under their home without having to worry if they will be damaged by the moisture.
