Crawlspace Before CleanSpace
This photo shows off a little bit of the crawlspace before our crew came to fix it up. This is a wider view shot, but it gives a general look at the condition of the crawlspace. While it may not seem like much, the biggest thing to remember in our industry is that our "enemy" is usually "invisible" or very difficult to see. It is easy to detect the relative humidity in a crawlspace with the right tools, but is impossible to see.
Unencapsulated Crawlspace Floor
Here is a better photo of the unencapsulated crawlspace's floor, which had no cover or liner whatsoever. This was one of the biggest issues with this crawlspace, the fact that water vapor could come straight up through the ground and increase the relative humidity level of the crawlspace.
Very Old Liner Around Water Heater
Many homes have a similar product to what this homeowner has in their crawlspace. These liners are sometimes clear, white, or black but something they all have in common is that they don't work very well. These liners are more from keeping clothes from getting dirty, rather than keeping water vapor from getting into the crawlspace.
Another View of the Unencapsulated Crawlspace
Here is one last view before the CleanSpace liner will be installed in the crawlspace. There is even more of the ineffective liner in this portion of the crawlspace. There are several reasons why these liners are so ineffective, but one of the biggest reasons is because these liners often don't cover the entire area, so that even less water vapor is "caught" by the liner.
CleanSpace Liner Installed in Crawlspace
Here is what the crawlspace looks like with our CleanSpace liner installed. This product makes a huge difference both physically and functionally. CleanSpace keeps water vapor from getting into the crawlspace, and also helps to brighten up the area.
Liner Sealed on Wall and Columns
One of the most important parts of installing our system is making sure that the CleanSpace is sealed onto the wall and even the columns in the middle of the home. By bringing the CleanSpace up a foot or so, it allows the crew to seal the crawlspace better, and helps to keep even more water vapor from getting into the crawlspace.
Installed Dehumidifier
This is the dehumidifier that was also installed in this crawlspace. It helps to pull out any moisture that is in the air, so that mold is not able to grow in the crawlspace, which the crawlspace had dealt with before. The small black pump in front of the dehumidifier is a condensate pump, which helps to pump this water out of the crawlspace.
One Last CleanSpace Picture
Here is one last picture of the CleanSpace that was installed in the crawlspace of this home in Irmo. This photo gives an even better of how tight our crews seal the CleanSpace to the columns (as well as the walls).
