Unencapsulated Crawlspace
Here we can see the crawlspace that our Specialist saw when he first got to the home. This certainly was not the worst crawlspace that we had ever seen or dealt with, but it was certainly up there! One of the most noticeable things in this photo is the mildew that is growing on the ground (which is the white stuff).
Previously Installed Crawlspace Liner
This is the liner that the owner had previously had put in the crawlspace of the home. As you have already seen, this liner did not do too much to protect the crawlspace and home from moisture. This is mainly because this liner was not sealed properly, or at all, which lets the moisture from the ground evaporate and cause mold and mildew issues.
More Mold!
This picture shows even more mold than in the first picture! you can see the mold all along the open ground of the crawlspace as well as some on the support column of the home. This homeowner was definitely in some trouble with his crawlspace, far beyond a lot of the homes that we deal with on a daily basis.
Mildew On Inside Wall
This shows just how out of hand the moisture under the home was getting. As you can see this is an internal wall of the home, with a lot of mildew covering it. This shows that not only was the moisture affecting the crawlspace, but this actually proves the "Stack Effect", which basically shows that air moves from your crawlspace, all the way up your home until it exits through the attic/roof.
Installed CleanSpace Liner
The crawlspace in this home was relatively spacious, but this particular area did not have too much clearance for our crew! Even though this was a tight squeeze, our crew was still able to do an excellent job in installing the CleanSpace liner and sealing it, so that no moisture could get through!
Entrance to Crawlspace
Here is the entrance to the crawlspace after the CleanSpace had already been installed. You can see how the CleanSpace liner is taken all of the way up to the door of the crawlspace. In some homes we actually have a special EverLast door, that will not rot or decay and creates an airtight seal around the entrance.
Another View of Encapsulated Crawlspace
Here is another view from a different angle of the crawlspace with the CleanSpace already installed. It is a little difficult to see the CleanSpace because of the wires and pipes in the photo, but for the most part you can see how well the CleanSpace was installed throughout the crawlspace.
SaniDry CX Dehumidifier
Last but not least we have the SaniDry CX dehumidifier that keeps the relative humidity level in the crawlspace. This is an extremely important product in most homes, but especially this one. Since this crawlspace had so many issues with mold and mildew, our specialist knew that we needed a dehumidifier to take care of this.
