Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: Full Crawl Space Encapsulation in Ridgeway, SC

This home in Ridgeway, SC was having problems with water intrusion in its crawlspace for awhile before the homeowner called us. Luckily, the extent of the damage was pretty insignificant, but the homeowner needed to have the area encapsulated. The homeowner went all out in this installation because they wanted to make sure they never had to deal with the problem again. In this crawlspace our crew installed; CleanSpace liner, drainage matting, 3-inch drain tile, SilverGlo insulation, a SaniDry CX Dehumidifier, and a SmartSump Pump system.

Wet Crawlspace Wall

This photo shows one of the reasons why this homeowner needed this system installed. There is quite a bit of water that has soaked through the wall in this crawlspace, which causes the relative humidity to rise and can cause mold and mildew to grow under the home. Having the crawlspace encapsulated keeps this water and water vapor from getting into the crawlspace and causing these problems.

Here is another view of the unecapsulated crawlspace. This doesn't give the best view of the water and moisture in the crawlspace, but if you look on the right hand wall, you can see some water intrusion through on this wall. When water comes through and evaporates, it leaves behind minerals, leaving a white powdery substance.

Encapsulated Crawlspace with CleanSpace Liner

Here is a photo of the finished project, with the CleanSpace liner already installed. As you can see, this homeowner decided to have the CleanSpace laid all the way of the walls of the crawlspace for a full encapsulation. This means that almost no water vapor can get through into the crawlspace. This was especially important for the homeowner, because much of the water was coming from the walls, rather than the floor.

Here is another photo showing the crawlspace with the CleanSpace installed. Again, you can see that the entire crawlspace has been covered with our CleanSpace liner, in order to keep water vapor from getting into the crawlspace and increasing the relative humidity. Even the door to the crawlspace had CleanSpace on it!

Here is a beautiful view of this encapsulated crawlspace. CleanSpace is able to reflect a lot of light, so it really doesn't take much to really light up the crawlspace. Not only is CleanSpace functional, but it is able to physically transform a crawlspace into a not-so-scary area.

One last view of the CleanSpace wall in the crawlspace of this home. You can see how our crew were able to seal the CleanSpace around the piping and wires on the wall in the crawlspace.

SilverGlo Insulation on Crawlspace Door

This photo shows the entrance to the crawlspace, with our SilverGlo Insulation already installed on the door. While CleanSpace does a great job as an insulator from the outside, it certainly won't hurt to have some SilverGlo installed! Especially in the colder areas that we service like Upstate South Carolina and North Carolina, the SilverGlo keeps even more heat in even more!

SaniDry CX Dehumidifier

Here is the dehumidifier that was installed in this crawlspace of this home. The dehumidifier is an important part of the system because it helps to regulate the relative humidity level in the crawlspace. The CleanSpace Liner does an extremely good job, but the dehumidifier is there for a back up, for when the humidity gets a little too high.

Installed SuperSump Pump System

This is the sump pump that was installed in this crawlspace. It is a SuperSump pump, which is one of our more popular sump systems. It is installed in the lowest point in the basement so that all of the water will drain down to it. Once the water gets to the sump pump, it is then discharged through the white PVC pipe coming off the top of the SuperSump.

Discharge Outlet

Here is our LawnScape Outlet, which is where the water that is pumped out of the SuperSump comes out. This small grate attaches to the end of the discharge pipe. It is very low profile and usually does not interfere with landscaping, like mowing or weed-whacking.
