Crawlspace Before Encapsulation
This photo shows what the area looked like before the crawlspace was encapsulated with the CleanSpace Liner. While there is no standing water (which is a good sign), you can see that the clay in this area is soaked through (which is a bad sign). This means that water is either seeping through the walls and soaking the ground, or coming straight from the ground, which in this case it was.
Water Level on Wall
Even though this is not the best picture, it does tell a lot about this crawlspace. The main thing that this picture shows, is the water level on the wall. You can how far up the clay goes up the wall (a couple inches), which means this crawlspace had some pretty serious water intrusion problems.
Another View of Unencapsulated Crawlspace
Here is one last view of the unencapsulated crawlspace by the home's hot water heater. This is an important area because the CleanSpace has to go around the water heater, but the seal must still be extremely tight.
Installed CleanSpace and SilverGlo
Here is the installed CleanSpace liner and SilverGlo insulation in the background. The insulation was installed in the crawlspace to provide a little more insulation, since the normal insulation was taken out because of the mold that was in a lot of it. The CleanSpace does a great job with sealing the crawlspace from the "outside", keeping the moisture out.
Another View of CleanSpace and SilverGlo
Here is one more close up view of the installed CleanSpace and SilverGlo Insulation. You can see that the SilverGlo has a reflective surface, which helps to control the climate in the crawlspace even better than the CleanSpace by itself. You can see how the CleanSpace goes partially up the wall, while the SilverGlo goes almost to the top of the wall.
Last View of the CleanSpace and SilverGlo
One last view of the installed CleanSpace liner, overlapping the SilverGlo. This photo gives a little better view of how the CleanSpace is fastened to the SilverGlo; which is mainly through a special tape that we use. Not only does the tape attach to the SilverGlo, but it also creates a great seal, which doesn't allow moisture into the crawlspace.
The Finished Project
Here is another area in the crawlspace that the CleanSpace liner installed, but not the SilverGlo. This is the same area as one of the first few pictures with the hot water heater. Unfortunately this photo doesn't show the bottom of the water heater, so you aren't able to see how the crew sealed the liner around the heater.
