Wet and Moldy Duct Insulation
The moisture really did a number on this duct insulation. The moisture in the crawlspace had weighed down the insulation until it started to fall apart. This is definitely not a good sign; not only is there moisture in the crawlspace, but mold as well.
Wet and Open Ground Under Home
While this area is dryer than the last, it still was wet which is never a good thing under a home.
Unencapsulated Crawlspace
Here is a wider view of the crawlspace. Thankfully for this homeowner, the entire crawlspace was not like the first two pictures. Much of the crawlspace was dryer, but it is difficult to isolate just one area. Even when that is done, it can just push the problems to other areas that weren't encapsulated.
Open Vents, and Unencapsulated Crawlspace
We have a major no-no in this picture, can you guess what it is? The unsealed vent was the correct answer! I'm not going to explain the science behind this, because there is a blog post about it, but vents should be sealed, and is something that we do in almost every crawlspace that we do work on.
Installed CleanSpace Liner
Here is the final product! With hours of hard work, our crew was able to, once again, do a great job on this installation. Perfectly sealed and laid, so that no moisture could get back into the crawlspace.
Sealed Up and Ready to Perform
Here is another view of the installed CleanSpace Liner. This photo shows how tight our crews seal the CleanSpace. On the right hand side of the picture is a column that has CleanSpace tightly sealed to its base.
Installed CleanSpace Wall
Another long view of this customer's crawlspace, with the CleanSpace liner installed. This crawlspace also had the CleanSpace Wall installed as well, which helps to collect even more moisture and keep it from entering the crawlspace.
Installed CleanSpace and Sump Pump
This was the lowest point in this crawlspace, so our crew installed the sump pump here. It is put in the lowest place because that is where all the water drains. When the water gets to the sump pump, it is promptly pumped outside the home.
Another view of Installed CleanSpace Liner
One last view of the CleanSpace installed in this crawlspace. As I've mentioned several times before, you can never have enough pictures of this satisfying CleanSpace Liner.
Sump Pump Drain
This is the area outside the home where the water is pumped out. It is usually at least several feet away from the home, so that the water does not make its way back into the crawlspace through the walls.
