CleanSpace Encapsulation with SilverGlo in Easley, South Carolina
Challenge
This crawlspace was in pretty rough shape when the homeowner first contacted us. While the beautiful home above it seemed to be in great shape, the crawlspace was suffering from water intrusion and a lot of it. Parts of the ground were essentially mud when our service design specialist went for the initial estimate. Besides the extremely saturated earth in the crawlspace, we also had to deal with the sheer size of the home. In the end, we installed over 2100 square feet of CleanSpace Liner.
Luckily for this family, wet and even soaked crawlspaces are something that we see and fix regularly, so this biggest challenge with this home was going to be the size of the home. Fortunately, this is an easy problem to fix, our crew may have to spend a little extra time each day, or possibly stay a day longer than usual, but it isn't anything that can't easily be overcome.
Solution
We installed several different products in order to make sure that this homeowner was never going to have any problems with water in their crawlspace, ever again. One of the first things to do was to remove the existing insulation and clean the area with Mold-X. We do this first so that there will be no existing mold in the crawlspace when our crew finishes the job. The next step we take is what you can see in the pictures below; installing the drain tile, drainage matting, SilverGlo Insulation and the SmartSump pump system. We must install all of these products first because they go under the CleanSpace Liner.
After those products are installed in the crawlspace, we put on the finishing touches. The first is to seal everything else up with the CleanSpace Liner. This liner is like the icing on the cake. It holds everything together and keeps moisture from getting into the crawlspace. This homeowner decided to go all the way up the wall with the CleanSpace which just makes it even harder (practically impossible) for any water to seep through the walls and get into the crawlspace. After the CleanSpace is installed, we installed an EverLast Door where the existing door once stood. An EverLast door creates an airtight seal that prevents any air or moisture from getting into the crawlspace, it also won't rot or deteriorate since it is made of plastic.
