Caring for a crawlspace is like caring for a pet—minus all the fun and joy. If neglected, it will act out and become a problematic piece of your home. And what, exactly, can a neglected crawlspace do? Well, for certain, it can become quite humid and dotted with mold. If it has a dirt floor, that spells even more issues to come. Or rather, that dirt floor can be the originator of all of the issues you currently face in your home. Buckling floors, sticking doors and windows, and dust mites are a few of the side effects of a damp, neglected crawlspace. As long as the problems within a crawlspace persist, these issues will undoubtedly multiply. The time for action comes late for some people, but action—at some point—must come. This Williamston, South Carolina crawlspace, for example, suffered for a very long time before these owners decided to move forward with a solution. They were researching waterproofing companies in the South Carolina area when they stumbled upon All-Dry of the Carolinas. Our work spoke for itself as they combed over our website. They gave us the call and we went from there. Our Design Specialist met with them at their home and gave them a free estimate. The Specialist, Jonathan Geddie, concluded that the entire space needed floor to wall CleanSpace. The interior vents needed to be sealed, a SmartSump pump, installed along with an Aprilaire 1850 dehumidifier. Our crew led by Foreman Will Harris did the install, leaving it clean and spotless.

A Crawlspace Like Many

This crawlspace is not extraordinarily problematic. Like many crawlspaces, its dirt floor has been groomed to call the shots and direct moisture into the air. The misplaced plastic liner you see here does nothing to prevent this from happening.

Even the Walls

The dirt floor is not all to blame for this moisture monster. The wall are at fault too. Both air and water can easily squeeze past the bricks and into the crawlspace. Along the bricks, you can even see a chalky residue left behind by water intrusion.

The Vent Problem

The idea behind venting a crawlspace is to let the humid air escape. Only, that is not what happens. If it's hot outside, it will be hot inside. If it's cool outside, it's cool inside. That's why one of the first orders of business we set out was to seal all interior vents.

The Jack-of-All

CleanSpace is a problem solver in many respects. When placed against the dirt floor, it's a barrier against the earth. When placed against the wall, it stopped by air and water from intruding into the now encapsulated crawlspace. It's truly a jack-of-all-trades.

We are especially proud of of our SmartSump. First and foremost, like all sumps, it was placed at the lowest point in the crawlspace. This is where it can most easily collect water.
