Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: Moldy Crawlspace in Marietta, SC Receives Encapsulation to Erase the Issue

This Marietta, South Carolina crawlspace was experiencing major moisture issues and the owners hinted that there was a little mold too. Imagine our surprise when our Design Specialist gets to the crawlspace and sees this. The beams in the crawlspace were covered with mold so thick you could write your name in it. It’s funny now, looking at it, but the owners were extremely worried when they discovered the problem. Our solution, of course, was to set their minds at ease. The best thing we could do would be to try to remove all of the moisture completely from the crawlspace. An over excess of moisture in one space is what allows the mold to thrive. The space needed to be dried out and sealed. Jonathan Geddie, the Design Specialist, concluded that the best way to do this would be to install Drain Tile, SilverGlo, CleanSpace, a Santa Fe Edge II, and a SuperSump pump. All of these items combined, work together to remove the problem and give the homeowner some peace.

Mold Problem

To let the mold get this bad in any crawlspace, is an extremely terrible idea. This much mold let us know that it has sat here and festered.

CleanSpace is the Best

CleanSpace is honestly the best barrier for a crawlspace like this one. The dirt floor is in no way good for the crawlspace. What the CleanSpace liner does is isolate the crawlspace from the ground and the potential water vapor that may escape from it.

The Dehumidifier Does the Work

The dehumidifier is really, in my opinion, the main event. What the Santa Fe Edge II does is take the moisture from the air and then pipe out completely dry air. It keeps doing this until no moisture remains. Look at the basement now, see the difference?
