Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: Belton, SC Crawlspace Is Revisited and Revamped

When homeowners have installation installed in any home, they mean well. The only problem with fiberglass insulation is that when it’s damp, it’s not actually doing its job. Not to mention, when the crawlspace is vented it’s really not doing much of anything. Fiberglass insulation only works in a closed cavity. Because it’s so loose, air passes right through it. Meanwhile, once the insulation gets wet it begins to sag and drop down to the crawlspace floor. Moisture, in any crawlspace, tends to do this to insulation. However, we can’t place all the blame on the insulation. Dirt floors are no one’s friend. Everything from radon gas to water vapor can rise up out of the dirt and into your home. Both of these things contribute to the moisture and humidity levels in the crawlspace. Both of them can make your problems skyrocket. Moreover, having a wooden crawlspace door isn’t the affective in the least. Because it’s so low to the ground, the door rots and wears. If it isn’t sealed, air from the outside can get in and mix with the crawlspace air. That mixing causes moisture issues and increases the humidity within the crawlspace. This Belton, South Carolina homeowner was having just this issue when they decided to give All-Dry of the Carolinas a call. We, of course, sent over one of our Design Specialists to take a look at the crawlspace. He came to the conclusion that CleanSpace, a SmartDrain, a dehumidifier, and an EverLast Door were the solution. The Inspection

As we alluded to, insulation in a moisture ridden crawlspace is not doing its job. All that it is doing now is creating a huge mess. Right before we installed our products, the homeowner decided to have use remove every last bit of insulation.

A Job for EverLast

Wooden doors are cheap, right? At least, that's what people believe when they buy their first wooden crawlspace door. What they fail to realize is that that wooden door is costing them money. It allows in air, critters and the like. It decays and breaks down without too much of a fuss. In response, we replaced theirs with our plastic EverLast Door. EverLast will not rot or decay. No Insulation Needed

As you can see, we've removed every bit of that useless insulation. Now that the crawlspace has been encapsulated, there's no need for the insulation.

A Dehumidifier? Done.
