Water Leaking Through Door
This photo shows off just how much water was making its way into the basement. Most of the water was coming through in and around the door that leads outside. Another source of water was actually the dehumidifier, which should have been helping. Unfortunately, the dehumidifier was not draining correctly and the water was being poured right back into the space. Fortunately, the homeowner had only been running the dehumidifier for a short period of time before we came to do our work.
More Water Leaking
This is another view of the area where the water was coming in. This photo shows a closer view of the door where much of the water was coming through. This was the area in which we wanted to make such the WaterGuard was installed perfectly because it is the main point of leakage.
Water Throughout the Basement
Here is another close up of an area where the water has made it to. Fortunately this homeowner had stored their more important things further up on this shelf. This is actually a very common occurrence because people use their basements as a storage space. This is only a problem because when the basement begins to leak or flood all of the things the stored are completely destroyed or badly damaged.
Installed WaterGuard in Basement
Here is one of the areas where the WaterGuard drain was installed. It is difficult to see, but it is a very important part of the entire system. The drain is buried and then covered in concrete, except for a small area by the wall. This small gap is what allows the water to flow into the drain and not onto the floor.
WaterGuard Installed in Front of Door
This photo shows the gap between the wall and floor much better than the last picture. It is especially important in this location, because the door is where the water was coming in the most.
Installed Sump Pump and Dehumidifier
Both of these products are extremely important to this system. The dehumidifier does a great job of making sure that the air is dry enough to prevent the growth of mold in the basement. The sump pump is the real muscle of the operation, by pumping out all of the water that collects in the WaterGuard drain. The sump pump also collects water that drains from the dehumidifier.
