Basement Waterproofing in Greenwood, South Carolina
Challenge
Here at All-Dry, we have dealt with thousands of wet and even flooded crawl spaces and basements before, but this one could very well take the cake. This home was not just a wet or damp basement like we normally see, it wasn't even a basement with a few large puddles, this basement was full on flooded. This was definitely the biggest challenge for us, but more so for the homeowner.
Here at All-Dry, we perform more preventative waterproofing measures, rather than reactive services. This means that while we were not able to actually drain or remove the water from the home once it was already there. The homeowner was able to contract another company who solely focuses on water removal/restoration. After the homeowner had the basement cleaned out from this huge mess, our crew was able to make their way to Greenwood and help this homeowner never have to deal with this problem ever again!
Solution
Our solution was pretty standard for this type of situation, although this was definitely a project that was a little different than our normal basement waterproofing jobs! The first two photos on the right are what the basement looked like before any work was done. The flooding is obviously very severe, but the second photo which shows the area around the fireplace, which was a problem area for this homeowner. The solution for this home was a few different products including; DryTrak, WaterGuard drain, as well as two sump pumps -- a SmartSump and a SuperSump.
Our crew began the work by installing the two sump pumps. One of these sump pumps was installed in a closet by the fireplace area, while the other was installed by the garage, which was also an area that frequently has water problems. After the pumps were installed, our crew moved to the WaterGuard and DryTrak, which are both drainage systems. These drains work extremely well and they are both relatively low-profile. WaterGuard is completely in the floor, while DryDrak looks similar to a baseboard. These drains both are able to collect water coming through the basement walls and redirect the water into the sump pumps, where the water is then pumped outside of the home.
This homeowner was very pleased that we were able to provide a solution to keep them from going through this troublesome process between the actual flooding of the basement, and the process of restoring it. And everyone here at All-Drisre so happy that we were able to relieve their stress and make their basement an "All-Dry" basement!
