Wood Walls Soaking Up Water
While it may not seem like much is going on in this photo, look a little closer at the bottom of the corner pieces. There is water damage on the bottom few inches of both boards, which means that quite a bit of water was able to get into the basement and then soak the water up.
Damp Basement Floor
This photo shows some damp floor under the metal cabinet in the basement. The homeowners used their basement quite extensively, which made this even more important to take care of. The moisture can begin to affect and damage just about anything that is left in the area too long, including; metal objects, papers, pictures, and other items.
More Damp Floor in the Basement
Here is another photo showing off some more water in the basement of the home. It also helps to show that the homeowner used this area quite a bit. Much of it was used for storage, but there were a lot of things that needed to be protected from moisture.
Storage in Basement of Home
Just about everything that can be seen in this photo can be affected by too much moisture in the basement. There is wood, cardboard boxes, and blankets that are all great places for mold to grow. The homeowner was doing their best in the mean time to help with the moisture, as you can see they had a dehumidifier running while they waited for our crew to install their system.
A CarbonArmor Strap in the Basement
CarbonArmor is a great solution for basement walls that are just beginning to bow. Our Design Specialist noticed that there were some small cracks and slight bowing in the basement. The straps help to secure the wall and prevent the wall from moving any further.
More CarbonArmor Straps
Here are two more of the CarbonArmor Straps that were installed on the walls of this basement in Asheville, North Carolina. Since the walls had just began to bow we were able to use the straps instead of one of our more "heavy-duty" solutions such as wall anchors.
Installed TrenchDrain, WaterGuard, and CleanSpace Liner
Part of the basement area was actually the garage of the home, which changes things slightly, but fortunately we have a product to handle a situation like this called TrenchDrain. TrenchDrain is an open drain that is able to handle more water if it were to come in where the garage door is.
More TrenchDrain Installed
Here is another small section of TrenchDrain that was installed in front of this door leading to the outside. Since the TrenchDrain has more openings it more easily catches water coming in through by the door. TrenchDrain ties in directly to the WaterGuard drain which is installed in the floor of the basement.
Ensuring the CleanSpace is Sealed
This is one of our crew members while the crew was finishing up the project. Here we can see him ensuring that the caulk behind the CleanSpace was creating a proper seal, preventing moisture from getting into the basement.
TrenchDrain Installed by Garage Door
The TrenchDrain spanned the entire front of the garage by the doors. The drain catches any water that comes through the garage doors and drains it to the sump pump that was also installed in the basement.
Installed SuperSump Plus Pump System
Here is a very important part of the waterproofing system in this home. This is the sump system that handles all of the water that comes into the basement. At this moment in time there is only one pump in the liner, but there is room for another two pumps if that ever becomes necessary for this homeowner.
