Home On Downward Slope
This was mainly dealing with severely bowing basement walls, but they were also dealing with water intrusion in the basement. One of the biggest contributors to the water intrusion was the location of the home. Having this home right at the bottom of this hill (and so close at that) caused a lot of water to be funneled directly towards the home. With nowhere to go, it would sit along the side of the house and begin to seep into the basement.
Water Intrusion
Here is just one example of some of the water that was making its way into the basement. While it is only wet in one spot, there are other areas along the wall where water has come in, dried out, and left behind mineral deposits. This is called efflorescence and is a very common sign of previous water intrusion.
Large Crack Created by Bowing Walls
Here is a close up of the main crack that was caused by the bowing walls in this basement. This crack was around half of an inch, which is pretty significant and dangerous. Even with a crack as large as this, we were able to properly install our system and stabilize this wall.
Wide View of Bowing Wall
Here is a wider view of the crack that was caused by the bowing of this basement wall. This crack spans a good portion of the wall, which is extremely concerning since the rest of the home is relying on these walls in order to maintain its structural integrity. This homeowner knew that had to get this taken care of as soon as possible.
Installed SuperSump System
This is the sump pump that was installed in the home in order to rid the basement of any water that makes its way into the area. The water is captured by the drain, which then takes it to the SuperSump and is pumped out and away from the home.
Installed PowerBrace
Here is the PowerBrace that was installed in the basement of this home in order to help support and correct the bowing wall. The PowerBrace is anchored into both the floor and the ceiling of the basement. The great thing about this product is that it is an active system which means that the wall can be adjusted over time.
Even More PowerBraces
Here is another photo showing off two more of the PowerBraces that were installed in this basement. These PowerBraces do an excellent job at supporting the wall, as well as providing the opportunity to progressively straighten the wall after the initial installation.
