Crack in Garage Wall

Here is one of the cracks that had appeared in this homeowner's garage. As you can see, this is a pretty significantly sized crack. Like many homeowners, this one did not think much of it and tried to caulk/glue it back together, thinking that this would solve the problem for good. Unfortunately for him, this was not the case.
