WaterGuard added to Honea Path, SC Basement
Challenge
This home in Honea Path, SC was having water seeping through the wall on one side of their basement. This basement was being used a game room so when the water would seep into the basement it was becoming a real inconvenience. This walkout style basement had water coming in from the wall that was underground. Water would seep down the walls and start to puddle in the floor causing a real mess.
Our All-Dry of the Carolinas team sent out our design specialist Alex Rodgers, to get a quote on what could be done to keep this room dry. Alex quoted the family a combination of waterproofing products that would keep the water off the basement floor.
Solution
In this basement we placed WaterGuard, a SuperSump, an UltraSump, and Bright Wall. These products work together to capture the water as it comes down the wall and flush it from the basement. Bright Wall was tacked to the wall, so the water that flows down it would be guided straight to the WaterGuard. WaterGuard was added to the side of the basement where the water was coming in. This WaterGuard is a drainage system that is placed in the floor and angled so that any water it collects will be guided to the SuperSump Pump. WaterGuard is different because it is designed to not sit in dirt like most draining systems do. There is a special wall flange that creates space between the floor and wall allowing wall seepage to drain through the WaterGuard while keeping it away from the dirt. Since this type of drainage is separated from dirt, the chances of it clogging are nearly impossible! The WaterGuard directs the water to the SuperSump Pump where it is then flushed from the basement outside to the LawnScape outlet.
WaterGuard is installed by digging a trench around the perimeter of the basement. Water is then flushed into the trench to test if water will flow smoothly downwards towards the SuperSump Pump. If the water puddles instead of draining, the trench will be deepened to allow the water to flow. Weep holes are drilled into the base of the wall so that water can flow from the base of the wall into the WaterGuard instead of building up and seeping down the walls. From there the WaterGuard is placed into the trench where it is covered with concrete that makes the system invisible.
The SuperSump pump that was added to the basement is one of the finest sump systems on the market. It is capable of pumping up to 2,650 gallons of water an hour and is equipped with a WaterWatch Alarm System, SuperLiner, and Airtight Lid. A hole is dug along with the trench for the WaterGuard for the SuperSump to fit in; from there any empty space that surrounds the pump is filled with gravel and concert to make the pump lid level with the floor. The SuperSump had an UltraSump purchased with it as well, which is a battery backup pump that will kick on if the power is ever lost in the home.
Once all of these products were in place, the owners of this home were able to put their stuff back into their basement without worry of anything getting wet!
